I loved sewing as a child, my mum taught me how to work with fabric and threads, and my gran helped me when I started to sew things with the sewing machine. I used to do patchwork with my auntie, it was a family hobby and we all liked to make things. I loved sewing at school enjoying every minute of being able to be so creative. I used to make a new outfit to go out at the weekends, then I started to make clothes for other people.
I have recently learned that this "skill" is not being taught in all schools now, which lead me to think what a great idea to have children's classes for girls and boys interested in making things.
"Sew Something", is just as it sounds, we will create something unique in class starting from the very beginning.
Firstly we have to get our head around threading a needle!, moving on to sewing something by hand, then eventually using the modern day sewing machine...
